Born in Manchester in 1960, Robert Walker started his own advertising studio at the age of twenty. His early work concentrated on portraiture; his sitters included Dame Vivienne Westwood DBE RDI, Sebastian Faulks CBE and Quentin Crisp. Walker shifted his focus to landscapes in 2007. Adopting a minimal approach and lightness of touch, he aims to reduce a landscape to its essence. His most recent project, 'The Fifth Continent', focused on the area of Dungeness in Kent. His work has been exhibited worldwide, and has been included in group shows in Florence, Frankfurt, and New York, as well as at the Saatchi Gallery in London. He also has pieces in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery.
